Ford Motor Company Fund Internship

The Philanthropic Arm of Ford Motors
Washington, D.C.

Duration: August 2019 - October 2019

I  interned for the philanthropic branch of Ford, a non-profit and 501C3. Additionally, my work station alternated between the Ford government relations office and the Comunicad office, Ford Fund's public relations agency. This internship was a unique experience in that I gained private sector, non-profit and public relations experience.

Summary:

Together with the other CHLI Global  Leader that interned at Ford Fund, Daniela, we spearheaded the creation and development of a new philanthropic initiative targeting Latinas. We also organized the Ford Fund Partner Luncheon, with Ford's non-profit partners. My duties as an intern included evaluating proposals, creating social media copies, and preparing briefing materials for Ford Fund events. Additionally, I continuously searched for potential new partnerships, investments, and ways that Ford Fund can positively impact the community.

Favorite Part:

My favorite part was working on developing Daniela's and my pilot project for advancing Latinas. We were given full autonomy to create this program. We chose to make it about increasing Latina access to higher education and called it Developing and Advancing Latinas in Education (DALE). I had the opportunity to do background research on the issue and create a proposal for our initiative. It was a success and just knowing that our project has the potential of being implemented and benefiting our community is a great feeling.
