INR 3081: Contemporary International Problems

This GL course was a great experience because it gave me a broad understanding of key international issues including the rise of China, US-Russian relations and the demise of the Iran Nuclear Deal among other treaties and deals. My favorite part of this course was that Senator Marco Rubio lectured it. It was fascinating to get the perspective of a prominent political actor within the United States who deals with international matters continuously within his profession.

IDH 3034 & IDH 3035: Censorship, Suppression and Propaganda

This GL course was one of my two-part Honors College seminars. We looked at the role of censorship, propaganda and protest around the globe. My favorite part was examining protests from different regions and times. The protest module concluded with us students forming our own protest, which was a hands-on method of understanding the role of protests. It cemented what we had already learned in class.

LAS 3002: Introduction to Latin America and Caribbean Study

I am currently taking this GL course and it is going great so far. I am learning about the development of Latin America by studying historical accounts. An interesting assignment so far has been writing about the discovery of the New World and the casualties that resulted. It was fascinating to link the spread of disease among the Indigenous people then (Smallpox), to the spread of COVID-19 today. Both were a result of increased globalization.

IDH 3034 & 3035: Art as Persuasion

I am currently taking this GL course as part of my second two-part Honors College seminar. This course has focused on the role of art in propaganda. To me, this has been very interesting, since I have a background in art. Combined with my knowledge in propaganda from my previous Honors College seminar, I have been able to explore and understand the overlap that exist between art and propaganda.
