The Honors College at FIU

The Honors College at FIU has allowed me to build on and develop an interdisciplinary approach. I have taken several classes that have allowed me to dive into different fields that are not necessarily related to my major/track. It has also allowed me to learn from a diverse student body since Honors College courses are composed of students from different majors. This was very different from my experience in my major/related courses where most people are from the same field as me. It taught me to be more open minded and look into the different aspects of the same issue. This has also allowed me to satisfy many of my Global Learning classes necessary for the Global Learning medallion.

Favorite Part:

My favorite part is the connectedness and community that the Honors College offers. They played a key role in my journey to becoming a CHLI Global Leader as they facilitated this opportunity. Additionally, I have been blessed to have one of the greatest deans ever, Dean Juan Carlos Espinosa.

The Honors College is a family and support system. When I needed a last minute place to interview for my Cornell Law School application, they accommodated me so quickly. The Honors College and Dean Espinosa always have the well-being of their students at top-priority.
