Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute Global Leaders Program

Duration: August 2019 - December 2019

I was among the 4 students selected of a nationwide applicant pool to participate in the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute's (CHLI) Global Leaders Program. I completed two internships as part of the program, one in each the private and public sector. I additionally took a course on political management at George Washington University during this time. This experience was also filled with professional development and opportunities for leadership and enrichment.

Favorite Part:

My favorite part of this experience was the opportunity to meet several retired Members of Congress, as well as current ones, on a personal level. I believe this gave me a different perspective on politics and running for office since it demystified the idea of untouchable Congress members. I learned that they are all just people, humble and kind, like the rest of us. Additionally, I enjoyed the opportunity of being challenged and growing as a person. I learned how to be more outgoing, social and better at networking through this experience.
